2-hour 3.8-mile 695' AEG hike along the long extinct Forest Road 1683 in search of the Mercuria mine. We didn't find it but being only a 20' working, erosion may have erased it. On our return trip we found possibly a 100'+ horizontal mine in two feet of water. We'll be back better prepared to wade in.
